Föreställning med Valeria Conte

Hasidim & Misnagdim: a Dispute through Songs is a performance that presents the intellectual battle between two historically significant Jewish intellectual and religious movements through storytelling and song. The performance portrays the philosophical and theological debates as a dialogue between the – often satirical – repertoires of Yiddish and Hebrew songs composed by the movement’s members, offering a creative standpoint of a discussion that has greatly influenced the development of modern Jewish thought. The project is an international exchange between Sweden, Israel/Palestine, and Germany, involving professional musicians with deep knowledge and experience of Jewish music in general, and Eastern European repertoires in particular. The project follows the format and involves the musicians of the successful music performance “Music in the Talmud” (2024).
